Birgit's Food Fetish and Recipe Blog

First, these recipes are largely family recipes. I will try to attribute sources as much as possible, though some have been altered a bit from the original. Second, please excuse weird grammer and spelling. If I tried to edit everything I post, I'd never post anything. Third, some of my comments aren't for the faint of heart, since I can get kind of technical and biological about cooking and some of the ingredients. So, read at your own risk!

So, I just got this recipe from Kim and Mark, when we visited them yesterday after going to the Hopkinton Fair. I want to post it here before I lose the paper it's jotted on, especially with the kitchen down.

Mark's Best Margaritas Ever

1 2/3 cups Tequila ( high quality but not sipping tequila is best)
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp lime juice
Zest of 1 1/2 limes (about 1 Tbsp)
5 Tbsp Sugar (or granular Splenda)
1 cup water

Mix together, then cover and refrigerate for 2-24 hours, then strain and serve (I'm going to try this without the straining part). Best on ice.

Please note that this is over half tequila, and part of the other half is Grand Marnier, so be careful and wait to see the effect before going for seconds!

Thanks to Mark Martell for this recipe.
